    Our current workshop series

    Writing for Self-Discovery

Our current workshop series is Writing for Self-Discovery: therapeutic creative writing workshops. Sarah Richings and Lucy Watt have been delivering these workshops in London and, more recently, online (via Zoom).

Therapeutic writing in groups can be a powerful way of exploring our own feelings and experiences, and having these witnessed by others.

In these workshops, we provide you with writing prompts and encourage you to write freely in response to these. We focus on areas such as relationships, childhood memories and life transitions. You do not need to be skilled or experienced in creative writing to take part, you just need an openness to the process as it unfolds. The writing exercises often lead to areas of personal surprise or revelation, as an area of self-knowing that was out of our awareness emerges.

There are opportunities to share your writing, or your experience of doing the exercises, with your fellow participants in these workshops and to experience the powerful connection with yourself and with others that can emerge as a result of this process.

We can also design Writing for Self-Discovery workshops for companies and organisations, for example to help teams who are working remotely during the pandemic maintain contact and bonds at a time where they are physically distanced. We are both experienced bereavement counsellors and can run workshops on the theme of grief if needed. Please get it touch if this might be of interest and we can design a series of workshops to suit your team.

  • Testimonies

“Writing for Self-Discovery — Delivers exactly what it says and is facilitated both empathically and expertly... powerful stuff!" - SC

"I was a little anxious about joining my first Writing for Self Discovery workshop as I’ve never done anything like this before. Lucy and Sarah created such a welcoming space in our Zoom meeting, making it clear that there was no pressure and no judgement and we only had to do what we wanted and no more.

"I felt safe and engaged from the start and have been surprised at how easy the writing has been. I really never thought I would be able to read out my musings, however the group is so supportive and encouraging, I have enjoyed sharing along with them. What fab workshops, I’m so pleased I dared to sign up and go along." - NW

“Sarah and Lucy’s writing workshops were and an absolute lifeline for while I was stuck in India during lockdown. Together they provided a fine balance of openness and containment that made it easy for me to write, express myself and feel part of a creative community.” - TM

“I've been working remotely during the pandemic and struggling to really connect with people online, but this Zoom writing workshop has been the highlight of my year." - NI

  • Future Workshops

Workshops in development (watch this space...)

    Image Work

Just as creative writing with prompts can help us access those parts of ourselves that are hidden, guided image work can facilitate a process of self discovery and surprise.

    Vision Boards

Vision boards can be used to help you realise what it is you want in life, set intentions and achieve your goals.
